Mike McQuaid, provided media visibility for the Katrina Bikes Partnership Project in the Seattle market. McQuaid & Co. Strategic Communications, www.McQuaidCompany.com , which provides proactive media outreach and strategic communications, targeted audiences in and around Seattle with the following results.


Media Placement Results
 There were 22 placements of Katrina Bikes across all mainstream media in Baton Rouge, LA and Seattle markets, two international markets and miscellaneous online media pickup. Top Tier placements included The Seattle Times, Seattle Post Intelligencer, KING TV (NBC), KOMO TV (ABC), KIRO TV (CBS), KCPQ TV (FOX), KOMO AM Radio (ABC).


Print media coverage included 8 dedicated feature / columns (2 with photography) and 5 media calendar mentions. There was one radio feature-interview with KOMO AM radio in Seattle and 5 dedicated television placements in Seattle. In addition there were 6 calendar mentions (non media), 12 instances of story pickup among miscellaneous electronic publications, calendars and blogs. There were three News Releases Oct 13, 2005, Nov 1, 2005, Nov 8, 2005 and two media alerts.

A spokes-man for giving

David Lowenthal works on a bike donated for Hurricane Katrina victims Saturday in Hangar 30 at Seattle’s Magnuson Park. Through the Katrina Bikes Partnership project, volunteers will collect and do small repairs on bikes in good condition from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and next Saturday and Sunday. The bikes will be shipped to the Gulf Coast and also given to evacuee students studying at the University of Washington and Seattle University.
